Why the GPL is garbage…

#1 reason, and the only reason I need, you can’t make a lot of money by putting all your software under the GPL. You can’t really sell your software if it’s under GPL, because anyone can set up a torrent for everyone to download, and it’s perfectly legal. Sure you could sell support like Red Hat does, but you won’t make that much when people can just go use a forum and get free support. You could also sell t-shirts of your logo like Firefox does, but that still doesn’t make you that much money. Let’s look at some big-name companies: Google, Apple, Microsoft, Oracle. They don’t have all their software under the GPL, but they have few, but there big money makers are proprietary software.

Top 5 Reason Why You Shouldn’t Switch to GNU Linux

All over the webz there are several sites giving you top 5 reasons why you should dump Mac OS X or Windows for GNU Linux. I disagree.

5.) Most of your Applications will not run Natively on GNU/Linux. Sure you can run things in Wine, but it will never run as well as it does natively. Some things just don’t work in Wine or they’re a bitch to set up. Quite of bit of business(at least the ones that my friends work at) write a lot of In-House Applications using .Net. Having that company switch to Linux would require to rewrite those applications to run on Mono.

4.) The community is not fully matured yet. People just want to use Linux so they can hate Microsoft or Apple. These 15 years old basement dwellers who have enough programming experience to code “Hello World” in C++(Like Adam King). Not to mention one of the answers to questions are: RTFM, WorksForMe(tm), and You Break It You Fix It On Your Own.(To be fair, not everyone in the Linux Community it complete dickwads. There are some great people that will help you out).

3.) Some of your devices may not work on GNU/Linux. You may install the latest version of Ubuntu and discover that it doesn’t work with your printer. That is no fun. Not all hardware works correctly with Linux.

2.) It can be tough learning a new Operating System. Why attempt to learn something new when you’re going to just use Firefox(Should use Opera) to surf the web no matter what OS you’re using.

1.) It’s a cult, and last time I check joining a cult is bad. It’s different if you’re setting up a Linux machine for a web server(though you should use FreeBSD or Windows Server 2008), but trying to convince everyone to install GNU/Linux on their Desktop because GNU/Linux is way superior in every way.

GNU/Linux is not the best choice for Desktop Computers. If you REALLY want to switch from Mac OS X, go to Windows. If you REALLY want to switch from Windows go to OS X. If you REALLY don’t like either, you can attempt PC-BSD or Solaris. I’m just sick of the bunch of sites say how awesome GNU/Linux is and that it blows all those crappy non-free OS. Spreading lies how Windows gets billions of Malware and BSODs (I don’t here of these problems much anymore) or how Linux it’s Free and you can do what ever you want with it. If it’s broken you can go in to the Linux’s code, change stuff and recompile. Because everyone knows how to write in C and has a full understanding of that poorly documented kernel.

I Hate GNU

I really hate GNU. I hate Stallman and I hate the GPL.
I think GNU/Linux is a joke and I think the GCC is garbage.

This whole blog is against Stallman and his followers who blindly follow him. They go around the internet preaching the word of Stallman, annoying every sane person. Talking about how Linux GNU\Linux is way superior to any Non-Free OS.
